The KY Dam Spring Paddle Up is a family-friendly paddle event in partnership with the City of Calvert City, Calvert Area Development Association, and the Tennessee RiverLine. Paddling almost five miles downstream, the event will be held on May 18 at KY Dam Boat Launch and ending at Haddox Ferry.
Bring a kayak, canoe, or any other worthy paddle craft for a scenic and leisurely paddle down the Tennessee River. For those who do not own a kayak but want to participate, 12 kayaks are available to reserve. The deadline to register online is May 16.
Check-in is from 8 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. at the KY Dam Boat Launch just below Kentucky Dam near the Kentucky Dam State Park Campground. Paddlers will drop their kayaks at the KY Dam Boat Launch and take their vehicles to Haddox Ferry. From Haddox Ferry, a shuttle service provided by Pathway Baptist Church will bring paddlers back to the KY Dam Boat Launch for the Paddle beginning at 9 a.m.
A lunch voucher will be provided to all paddlers after the event at a local restaurant.
Marshall County Rescue Squad will be on-site floating alongside the group. All paddlers must wear a PFD and know how to swim. A brief safety course will be held before the launch of the group.
