The City of Bridgeport, Alabama and the Bridgeport Local Leadership Team of the Tennessee RiverLine invites the public to a free kayak paddle event in honor of veterans and veterans suicide awareness and prevention month. The event will be held Saturday, September 10th at the Bridgeport Ferry Dock (end of 6th street) from 8am - 12pm. Waters and a hot dog lunch will be provided. Participants will put-in at the Bridgeport Ferry Dock, paddle up-river to the Bridgeport Walking Bridge and return to the ferry dock for take-out. Twelve kayaks (8 singles and 4 tandems with personal floatation devices and paddles) are available on a first-come-first-served basis for anyone who does not have their own. Those with their own equipment and kayaks are encouraged to join as well! A certified instructor will be on-hand and motorized safety boats will be on the water.
