Watts Bar Spring Paddle

This permitted event allows kayaking, paddle boarding, and canoeing enthusiasts to connect as a community in a safe and responsible way. Please be sure to register for this event as information on routes, safety, liability, weather updates, and other important details will be emailed before the event. When registering for the event, you will have three (3) "ticket" options:

  • Option 1- Two-Person Sit-On-Top Tandem Kayak

  • Option 2- Solo Sit-On Top Kayak

  • Option 3- Bring Your Own Kayak/Watercraft

The 12 kayaks available for use are from Roane County's Tennessee RiverLine Fleet and are free to registered participants for the paddle event. *Limited Availability*

Launch & Route: We will launch from Winton Chapel Boat Ramp. We will paddle to Thief Neck Island and return to our launch point. We encourage you to be prepared to launch around 8:15 am with a scheduled launch at 8:30 am. However, depending on the fog, launching could be later. The total trip will be approximately 7 (seven)miles.

Additional Information: We encourage you to pack a light lunch, plenty of water, binoculars, and all other adequate gear for kayaking! Make sure to follow the Roane County Government's Facebook page and the Roane County Visitor's Bureau social media pages @VisitRoane to get the most up-to-date information on this event, other upcoming events, and much more!

In the event of forecasted weather creating unsafe conditions, this event will be rescheduled to Saturday, May 6, 2023. A post will be shared on social media and an email will be sent to participants notifying them.

This event has been organized by Roane County's Tennessee RiverLine 652 Leadership Team in partnership with the Roane County Visitor's Bureau and Roane County Government.

To ensure the safety of all attendees, this event will require the following:

  • each participant is encouraged to register for the event in order for event organizers to send important information regarding the event;

  • each participant is responsible for their own transportation from the end point back to the launch;

  • each participant must provide their own water and snacks for this event;

  • each participant will be encouraged to complete a brief virtual Safety Orientation before launching their craft;

  • all minors must be accompanied by an adult;

  • each participant is encouraged to adopt Leave No Trace principles.
