As the popularity of the river for both motorized and non-motorized recreation grows, the Tennessee RiverLine recognizes the need to enhance existing access areas to ensure safety and accessibility. This is a shared priority identified by community partners, resource managers, and allied organizations.
Through the Shared Access Community Impact Grant program, the Tennessee RiverLine aims to develop best practices for collaborative river access renovation, optimizing facilities for safe, shared use by diverse user groups. The resulting demonstration projects will serve as regional and beyond examples of how shared access areas can be optimized for safety and inclusivity.
Local Leadership Teams from all Tennessee RiverTowns Program enrollees are invited to nominate one qualifying river access amenity in their community. Selected nominees will collaborate with the Tennessee RiverLine’s Planning & Design group and local partners to develop site enhancement and project funding plans. Eligible projects may receive up to $40,000 in grant funding toward implementation.
Qualifying sites nominated but not selected for grant funding will be retained as priority projects for future funding opportunities.
Application information about the Shared Access Community Impact Grant is in the Grand Handbook and can be accessed by eligible communities in the Enrollee portal.
