Requirement(s):

  • Organize one or more community paddle events on the Tennessee River - OR - another public recreation/leisure event, planned with Tennessee RiverLine staff support, on its banks each year

  • Organize one or more river stewardship activities along the Tennessee River each year. Include the following criteria:

    • Promote your program as an official Tennessee RiverLine event and include the Tennessee RiverLine/Tennessee RiverTowns Program in promotional materials

    • Share an overview of the Tennessee RiverLine vision with participants

    • Use Tennessee RiverLine branded materials available to your community (tent, banner and printed materials) in prominent location(s)

    • Minimize or eliminate single-use plastics for catering or refreshments provided at event

    • Adopt Leave No Trace principles and provide an overview to participants

    • Collect participant information

    • Offer an orientation session that covers proper use of equipment, paddling technique, risk management information for participants, weather contingencies and on-river etiquette to ensure participant safety and compliance with effective regulations

    • Secure any required federal, state and/or local permits for large group use of the Tennessee River

    • Ensure participant comfort, safety and compliance with effective regulations related to land access

    • Take photos of your event to be shared and used in Tennessee RiveLine marketing and promotional materials

    • Require event participants to sign a Tennessee RiverLine assumption of risk form

    • Incorporate and align with at least one guiding principle

    • Be actively promoted to recruit participation from the general public or targeted to serve communities underserved by recreation opportunities

    • Enable participation by individuals who do not have their own gear

Forms: 

  • Pre-Event Form: Event details should be submitted 4 weeks prior to event

  • Post-Event Form: After your event we will capture some basic data that helps us quantify all the incredible community work throughout the region!

  • Event Photographs: Share your favorite shots with Tennessee RiverLine staff through the google drive.

    • Note: Participants pictured on water should be wearing Personal Floatation Devices.
