Meigs County Partner Paddle - Cherokee Removal Park / Hiwassee Island

The Meigs County Partner Paddle on will commence at the Cherokee Removal Memorial Park at 6615 Blythe Ferry Ln, Birchwood, TN 37308. General meet ‘n greet will be at 11:00 AM along with informational presentations of the Tennessee RiverLine and the Hiwassee River Blueway.  Attendees are invited to bring a sack lunch. Our paddle will begin from the Blythe Ferry ramp at 1:00 PM.

The Cherokee Removal Memorial Park is a public park in Meigs County, Tennessee that is dedicated in memory of the Cherokee who were forced to emigrate from their ancestral lands during the Cherokee removal, in an event that came to be known as the Trail of Tears. It was established in 2005, and has since expanded. It is managed by the Meigs County Government and is open to the public free of charge Wednesday – Saturday 8 AM – 4 PM.
