2022: A Year in Review

Tennessee RiverLine 2022 Annual Report Release

As we reflect on the momentous year of 2022, we cannot help but celebrate the progress made toward realizing the transformational vision for the Tennessee RiverLine and the partnerships that made this progress possible.

We are pleased to share our many achievements in our 2022 Annual Report.

In 2022, the power of partnerships provided opportunities for nearly 1,400 residents and visitors to experience our treasured river through innovative recreation and stewardship programs across the region, took steps toward diversifying paddlesports leadership and recreation and empowered river communities in Alabama, Kentucky, and Tennessee to discover their own vision for the Tennessee RiverLine. Innovative ideas and community plans for transformational investments in river spaces and experiences continue to emerge across the region and inspire us every day.

Our research partners published The Economic Potential of the Tennessee RiverLine, a study that establishes a roadmap for intentional effort, strategic investment, and resource stewardship that will unlock the river’s potential to accelerate economic development and the growth of the outdoor economy across the region.

These and the many other successes you will read about in this year’s report are driven by more than 250 volunteer leadership team members in 20 Tennessee RiverTowns communities, the Tennessee RiverLine’s growing multi-disciplinary team, and a network of committed organizations and institutions across the region, including the University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture and our principal partners, UT Knoxville and TVA.

We are proud of all that has been achieved yet recognize that it is the effort and investment still in front of us that will define our impact for future generations. We will continue exercising the power of partnerships to achieve our shared missions by promoting economic development and entrepreneurship, improving quality of life and public health, inspiring stewardship of natural and cultural resources, and enhancing equity of access to river spaces and experiences in Tennessee River communities.
